A surgical gown is a personal protective garment intended to be worn by health care personnel during surgical procedures to protect both the patient and health care personnel from the transfer of microorganisms, body fluids, and particulate matter.
Polyester fibres on the inside of the gown provide strength. The fibres are embedded into the tissue with water jets. Because the tissue is naturally absorbent, the fabric is always treated with fluorochemical to make it blood repellent.
Made from non-woven polypropylene fibres, these gowns are lightweight and comfortable. Spunlace: Available in Standard and High Performance gowns, Spunlace is made from non-woven wood pulp/ polyester fibres. Soft for increased comfort, our Spunlace gowns are suitable for most procedures.
They can withstand laundering at high temperatures for sterilisation purposes but are easily replaced. In addition to the scrubs when operating, surgeons wear a surgical gown with tie-back or bouffant-style cap to cover their hair, a face mask, latex gloves and clog-like rubber theatre shoes.
Cut and fit identically to standard model, but with additional reinforcement in critical chest and forearm areas. It’s designed for optimal protection during long surgical procedures involving large amounts of body fluids and high risk of infection.
