Bupivacaine Hydrochloride In Dextrose Injection USP

Bupivacaine Hydrochloride with Dextrose Injection USP is indicated for: It is indicated in adults and children of all ages for intrathecal (subarachnoid) spinal anaesthesia for surgery (urological and lower limb surgery lasting 2 – 3 hours, abdominal surgery lasting 45 – 60 minutes).
Dextrose injection is a sterile solution used to provide your body with extra water and carbohydrates (calories from sugar). It is used when a patient is not able to drink enough liquids or when additional fluids are needed. Dextrose is used in many different medical conditions.
The main advantage of bupivacaine is its duration of action, which is considerably longer than lidocaine and mepivacaine. In a study comparing lidocaine with bupivacaine, no significant difference was noted in the pain of local infiltration, onset of action, and level of satisfactory anesthesia.
Bupivacaine injection is used to numb an area of your body during or after surgery or other procedures, childbirth, or dental work. This medicine is also used to numb your shoulder after surgery for up to 72 hours. It is a local anesthetic.
