The Air Splint are made of a soft and transparent plastic material, that is non-toxic, very resistant and easily adapts to limbs. The splints are made of two linings and between them there is a space which can contain the air that enters through a valve. Ready to use-inflates in seconds.
A splint is loosely defined as an external device used to immobilize an injury or joint and is most often made out of plaster or fiberglass. Various splinting techniques may be employed, dictated by the location of the injury and the position of immobilization needed.
This type of splint is used when there is stiffness and shortening of the muscles of the arm, but when the arm can still be stretched into a straighter position. The air splint is used to try to prevent further shortening and contracture by applying a regular daily stretch to the muscles.
The Air Splint is Made of durable PVC sheeting with an inner layer that provides superior molding around the limb.
To Apply the Elbow Air Splint:
Sit comfortably in a chair and stretch out the affected arm. Slide the air splint onto the arm with the inflation tube away from your hand so it will be easier for you to inflate by mouth. Try to keep your palm facing up when you slide the air splint over the elbow.
Splints hold bones and joints in place so they can heal after a fracture (broken bone), injury, or surgery. Splints also can help with conditions that affect the joints (such as arthritis) or muscles (such as palsies, which are weakness or paralysis of a muscle).
Urias Air Splint – Leg/Foot Transparent air splint facilitates correct positioning and support compression. Made of durable PVC sheeting with an inner layer that provides superior molding around the limb. Latex free splints are open at both ends.
A leg splint is a medical device, such as the Thomas’ splint, designed to immobilize the lower limb by extending from the hip/groin area to beyond the foot.
