The fogging machine, or fogger as it is sometimes called, is a versatile piece of equipment that uses a fine spray to apply a chemical solution, often used for pest control, restricting the growth of mould or for odour control. It is becoming increasingly popular as a means of sanitising surfaces.
The basic idea behind this system is to feed the inlet air with fine water droplets. Depending on ambient conditions and expected evaporation time, these droplets can be of any size, but usually between 20 microns and 40 microns. Fog forms once high pressure demineralised water passes through the atomizing nozzles.
It is commonly used to fumigate large areas that are near impossible to sterilize by hand. This may include large area hospital, clinic, Laboratory etc.
Thermal Fogging, heats up pesticides or disinfectants mixed with oil – therein producing a very dense and visible fog formed of droplets of around 10 microns in size. Thermal fogging is ideal for exterior use to disinfect, combat vector carriers and pests.
Fog fluids have two primary ingredients – an active one and deionized water. The active ingredient can be propylene glycol, triethylene glycol, glycerin or a mixture of these. The vaporization temperature varies for these ingredients, so you should use a fog machine that is compatible with the fluid you have.
