CT Scan Machine

CT scanners are composed of three important elements: an X-ray tube, a gantry with a ring of X-ray sensitive detectors, and a computer. In this method, images are created using the same physics principles as in conventional radiography.
Computed tomography is commonly referred to as a CT scan. A CT scan is a diagnostic imaging procedure that uses a combination of X-rays and computer technology to produce images of the inside of the body. It shows detailed images of any part of the body, including the bones, muscles, fat, organs and blood vessels.
A CT scanner is shaped like a large doughnut standing on its side. You lie on a narrow table with a motor that slides through the center of the scanner into a tunnel. Straps and pillows may be used to help you stay in place. During a head scan, the table may be fitted with a special cradle that holds your head still.
